I haven’t written a blog since October 21st.

A lot of that had to do with getting ready for Halloween and a massive amount of acrimonious dialogue online leading up to Election Day. That wasn’t all of it, though.

It’s no secret that everyone has been going through very different but difficult times. My house is no different. We have been dealing with several health issues lately, none of them Covid-19 thankfully.

While all of this has been going on, I didn’t make the time to do my weekly writing. This is definitely an outlet for me and it gives others a chance to share their opinions as well. One of the few things that I do to communicate with the outside world and I stopped doing it. I realize now that I shouldn’t have stopped, no matter how painful or sensitive a subject is, I still need to get it out there.

I have been seeing a therapist since well before the pandemic. It helps somewhat.

I’m still playing hockey, but not near as much as I would like. It helps somewhat.

I have hung out with a few friends here and there. It helps somewhat.

I was able to get out of town with just the wife for a few days. That helped a lot, but the relief didn’t last.

Like most everybody else, I’m missing the ability of being together with friends and family without having to think about the repercussions of doing so. At least here in Florida, we have the ability to move about for now. Other places are not as lucky.

The collective angst, depression, and fatigue from dealing with this pandemic for so long is causing mayhem with many people all around the world. You cannot take lightly someone’s mental state of being at this particular time. I hope that this is the last time we have to deal with something this big for the rest of our lives. 1,500,000 worldwide dead from Covid-19 so far. That’s three times the normal number of flu deaths and that is with taking all the precautions. This doesn’t hit 1918 Pandemic numbers, but this is a significant event. To say otherwise is foolishness.

The vaccine is around the corner. Will anyone take it? How effective will it be? Will it diminish the effects of Covid when it mutates and come back around next year or sooner? It’s going to be interesting the next few months.

In the meantime, I’m going to continue to do all I can to keep my family safe and together for as long as I can. Allowing disagreements and bad attitudes to affect the family dynamic will crumble the walls of even the strongest castle faster than a siege army can.

If it seems like I’ve been rambling a bit, it’s because I have. This particular blog is more for my benefit than yours, but I hope that you still got something out of it. Taking a break from writing is not really a break at all. It made me get rusty with a skill that I was somewhat decent with. Here’s to hoping my next blog is a lot more entertaining and concise!
