Urgent Action Needed

In lieu of my normal blog entry, I strongly encourage everyone to watch this video of Jon Stewart’s speech to the House Judiciary Committee about the 9/11 responders renewal bill that was stalling out. Without funding, the police, fire, and EMS crews who worked on America’s worst terrorist attack scene would no longer be receiving health benefits after 2020. This is and should never be a political issue, this is a matter of taking care of those who selflessly did their jobs to help others at the risk of their own lives and safety.

By the way, the committee voted unanimously to bring it to the House floor for approval. It is by no means over yet. The entirety of Congress must pass the bill. Contact your representative AND senator to let them know how you feel about this passing.

Here’s a short form letter if you like:

Dear Senator/Representative ________,

Please pledge your support behind H.R. 1327 Never Forget The Heroes 9/11 Compensation Act to show our finest and bravest first responders that we have their backs as they had ours during one of the darkest times in our nation’s history.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

____________

Thank you in advance for taking the time to do this. The few minutes we put in now will help assure them that their benefits will be there for them without fear that they will go away.
